Everyone including young people under the age of 16 have a right to private and confidential advice about their health and well-being.
If you are having sex or using drugs, professionals will not tell your parents or carer even if you are under 16, and if you understand the risks that you are taking. They will only share confidential information about you to protect you or someone else from harm. However they will always try and discuss this with you first. It is not always confidential if you talk to a teacher.
All professionals will encourage you to talk to your parent/carer for extra support. It's useful to think about who you would talk if you needed to. If you go to see a professional you can take a friend or partner with you.
