Lubricants or lubes are creams or gels used with condoms to help prevent damage.
Imagine this...
You wouldn’t drive a car without oil in its engine.
Why?
All the working parts inside the engine would rub together and damage the engine. You’d get about 100 metres down the road and the car would break down.
Same for your condom...
The whole action of sex will dry it out, leave it prone to friction and break it. Adding some lube will keep the condom wetter and reduce the risk of damage.
However, unlike your car engine, DO NOT allow anything oil-based to come into contact with latex condoms. Oil warps latex and causes the condom to split. Ensure anything that comes into contact with the condom is water-based.
Only use lubes specially designed for use around the genitals; using anything else could cause irritation and/or infections like Thrush or Bacterial Vaginosis which is anything other than sexy! Don’t worry, you can get lubes with your C-Card, too.
Put the condom on first then add the lube onto the outside of the condom, then apply some to your partner’s genitals or anus, not only will it protect the condom but it will make sex more comfortable for them and make you seem a better, more thoughtful lover!
Ok, so that’s the main reason for using lube, but it sounds really clinical, so get a bit creative with it! What about using it for foreplay? Everyone loves a good massage but the oils you use could get onto the condom and damage it, so why not use lube instead! It’s water-based so safe for the condom and you don’t have to stop and wash you hands before you put the condom on!
