Chlamydia
Caused by a bacteria, so can be cured with antibiotics.
Extremely common.
You can get it again and again and again, just because you've had it once does not mean you're immune.
Men are more likely to have symptoms than women.
Symptoms, if any, include:
- Pain when you pee.
- A need to pee more often.
- Discharge often creamy, white in colour.
- Women may find they are bleeding between their periods.
- Lower abdominal pain.
Passed on through vaginal, anal and oral sex.
Very easy to test for. (See Sexual Health Services.)
Test involves:
- Women: a swab you take yourself.
- Men: a sample of urine.
If left untreated it can lead to infertility in both men and women.
